Super Yacht Visits Montserrat

Luxury super yacht Emerald Azzurah docked at port Little Bay last Friday.

The Azzarra is part of the Emerald cruises brand, and its visit here was deemed to be a defining moment in enhancing Montserrat’s luxury tourism offerings.

Parliamentary Secretary the Honourable Crenston Buffonge went on board the ship which has a capacity of 100 passengers and exchanged plaques with the captain.

He was accompanied by officials at the Montserrat Tourism Authority including the new product development officer and the marketing development officer.

The passengers who disembarked were taken on tours to the buried city of Plymouth, the botanical garden at the National Trust and the Montserrat Volcano Observatory.

According to reports, the passengers found the tour thoroughly enjoyable, and were impressed with the information shared on Montserrat and its history.

The Emerald Azzurah is scheduled to make more visits to Montserrat before the end of the cruise ship season - including on December 27th. Visits are also expected from the Sea Cloud II before the end of February.

In addition to packaged tours, visitors will be engaged in activities like hiking, scuba diving, and kayaking, while also relaxing at Montserrat’s beach bars, enjoying local cuisine, and purchasing unique souvenirs.

The MTA says the addition of new vessels to Montserrat’s itinerary through to 2026 underscores the island’s growing appeal among international travelers.
