Scientific Advisory Committee meets in Montserrat for their 29th Review of the Soufriere Hills Volcano

The 29th meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) began here Monday.

Commissioned by the Overseas Territories and Polar Directorate of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, SAC is responsible for assessing the scientific integrity of the work being carried out by the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO).

The meeting which runs from Monday 25 to 29 November, brings together Chair Dr Eliza Calder, MVO Director Dr Graham Ryan, Volcano Geophysicist Dr Nico Fournier, Fidel Costa, and Professor Dr Eleonora Rivalta.

At the end of the week a preliminary statement which will include the findings from the SAC meeting will be released

And a post SAC interview will be broadcasted via ZJB Radio.

SAC members meet twice a year, once on Montserrat and once by teleconference.
