Department of Labour Concludes Successful Skills Training Workshop

The Department of Labour has concluded another job skills training.

On Friday 24th February, it held it's closing ceremony for the "Repairs and Maintenance in Domestic Plumbing" Programme. The training was organized as part of the Labour Department’s mandate to assist in the overall development of the workforce in Montserrat.

The training in Plumbing Repairs and Maintenance was conducted from February 6th to 24th, 2023 and was facilitated by Mr. Emile Duberry of Emerald Plumbing Hardware & Services. The same facilitator as the two previous courses.

The training was well attended by the participants,all of whom were very happy to have been afforded the opportunity. The programme attracted amongst its participants three (3) females and four (4)male students from the Montserrat Secondary School.

At the closing ceremony, Acting Minister Mrs. Veronica Dorsette- Hector urged the participants to make good use of their new skills for their personal development and the development of Montserrat. Mrs. Dorsette also expressed her joy at once again seeing females taking an interest in the plumbing course and while extending her congratulations she also asked for them to encourage other women in becoming skilled.

MCWLE Permanent Secretary, Mr. Colin Fergus, shared a fewwords of encouragement with the participants and stated the ministry’s recognition of the importance of having a skilled labour force in Montserrat.Participants were also allowed to share their experience during the training.Labour Commissioner Mr. Rudolph Christopher acted as the master of ceremonies.
