School Health Programme - a Great Tool to Keep Track of Children's Health Here
A Public Health Nurse is encouraging parents on Montserrat to allow their children to participate in next week’s School Health Programme.
Nurse Alex Ackie says the programme, slated to run from February 6-10, is a good opportunity to keep track of children’s health, as well as provide early detection and treatment that may develop in childhood.
All children enrolled in school are eligible for the programme. The children are assessed at various age groups: at the end of nursery, preparing to enter primary school; grade six students and third form students.
In collaboration with the Health Promotion Unit, parents were sent a pamphlet accompanying the consent form. The pamphlet includes information on the medical assessments that will be carried out, as well as advise on how to prepare the children for the assessments.
