A Member of Parliament has joined the call for more research into the masquerade and jumbie dance rituals.

Honourable Claude Hogan issued the appeal during the book launch of the Book Montserrat Masquerades and Jumbie Dance, written by Dr. Clarice Barnes.

Honourable Claude Hogan.

Author and Social commentator recently called for research to be carried out locally to determine the meaning of all aspects of masquerading-dress, sound scapes, movement and origins.

Her new book explores the defunct mystical Jumbie Dance trance, a ritual performed for communicating with ancestors.
