Energy Minister Dr. the Hon. Samuel Joseph Addresses the Caribbean Energies and Investment Summit (CEIS) in Barbados

Minister for Communication, Works, Labour and Energy, Dr. the Hon. Samuel Joseph was scheduled Wednesday to address the Caribbean Energies and Investment Summit (CEIS), currently taking place in Barbados.

CEIS 2023 takes place from the 1st to 3rd November 2023 and is hosted by the Government of Barbados under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, K.C., M.P., and Senator the Honourable Lisa Cummins, Minister of Energy and Business.

Dr. Joseph, who is in Barbados for the summit, will be participating in a Ministerial Roundtable alongside Senator The Hon. Lisa R. Cummins, Minister of Energy and The Government of Barbados; Honourable Konris Maynard, Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Domestic Transport, Information, Communication and Technology and Posts, Saint Kitts and Nevis; Honourable Walter Roban, JP, MP, Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs, Bermuda.

During the roundtable, Dr Joseph and his ministerial colleagues will discuss topics such as “better together or alone we will get nowhere building the Caribbean on sustainable, collaborative growth Global alignment on solutions to climate change remains a challenge as each country prioritizes its own interest but there are growing attempts for clarity between roles of developed and developing nations, and private and public sectors.

- What is the status in the incorporation of the Caribbean Single Energy Export Market and are cross-border cooperation projects the solution to expedite the transition and increase foreign investment?

- There is a responsibility and urgency on governments to take concrete actions towards a more equitable and sustainable future for all and advance inclusive and sustainable growth, productivity, and equitable globalization.

- What are opportunities for Regional Energy Integration that would consider cross border supplies of energy and opportunities for the harmonized procurement of Renewable Energy Technologies and projects on a regional basis.

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Business and co-hosted by the Barbados National Oil Company Limited, National Petroleum Corporation, Invest Barbados and Export Barbados, CEIS 2023 is being hosted under the theme of ‘Sustainable Energy Paths for the Caribbean’ and looks to promote and facilitate energy security, reliability and affordability and deliver sustainable energy and investment paths for the Caribbean.
