John A. Osborne Airport Downgrade and Abolition of Night Security Discussed on 4th Day of Access Public Hearings
The public hearings on access to Montserrat by sea and air entered its 4th day on Monday October 2nd, 2023.
The issues surrounding the John A. Osborne Airport downgrade and the abolition of night security formed a major part of the discussion on day four.
President of the Montserrat Civil Service Association (MCSA), Mrs Nyota Mulcare, representative for security workers at the airport, was called upon to give evidence to the special access committee which was instituted by Parliament.
Member of the committee, Honourable Donaldson Romeo started out by asking Mrs Mulcare about the abolition of night security and its relationship to the downgrading of the airport and who provided the explanation.
