Port Development Project Launches Grievance Mechanism

As the Montserrat Port Development Project enters the implementation phase, efforts are being made to ensure that residents are not negatively impacted by the project activities.

As such a grievance redress mechanism… GRM has been put in place to allow persons to lodge and channel their concerns with relation to the implementation of the project.

Affected persons will be able to lodge their grievances orally or in writing, via Telephone, Email, Snail Mail and stationed ‘Grievance Boxes’.

Grievances can be lodged anonymously.

Grievance Boxes will be located at the Montserrat Port Authority, Ministry of Communications Works Labour & Energy, Bitter End Bar or Moose’s Bar in Little Bay, the Montserrat Public Library and at the St. Patrick’s Co-Operative Credit Union.

Face to Face redress can also be facilitated by the Community Liaison officer Dr. Sheron Burns and/or the Project Coordinator, Dion Weekes.

The Montserrat Port Project aims to expand the port facilities in Little Bay to improve accessibility to the island.

The infrastructure works will include the construction of an offshore jetty, new access road, dredging works and slope stabilization.

It is being built by BVI-based company—Meridian Construction Limited to the tune of ninety million EC dollars.
