Government of Montserrat Commits to Leaving No Stones Unturned When Increasing Safety for Girls Online
The Government of Montserrat is on a move to increase safety for girls on line.
The commitment was made on Thursday, International Day for Girls in ICT, by Deputy Premier and minister with responsibility for ICT, Dr. the Honourable Samuel Joseph.
Dr. Joseph says the Government of Montserrat intends to bring legislation to parliament to address issues such as bullying and child pornography.
He says this is part of an overall programme that will also expose women and girls to the ICT Sector.
Dr. Joseph says the government is also pushing to have more girls involved in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics STEM subjects.

The theme for Girls in ICT Day was Access and Safety.

The United Nations says learning tech skills at a young age will set girls up for economic independence.
It says the ICT sector needs more girls and women, and that the jobs of the future will be driven by technology and innovation.
