Montserrat Joins Global List of Countries to Have Recorded Zero COVID-19 Cases Since Start of the Pandemic

Montserrat has been named in a list of countries and territories globally that has recorded zero cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic started in 2020.

Governments around the world had to change their travel warnings to restrict travel during the outbreak of COVID-19. But some countries and territories managed to get rid of cases or keep the virus at bay.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are some countries and territories that actually reported zero cases of COVID while some fought the virus, and have witnessed zero cases in the last seven days.

Montserrat is one of four British Overseas Territories along with the Cayman Islands, St Helena and Pitcairn Island, and among several Caribbean islands to include Bonaire and St Kitts and Nevis.

Montserrat has recorded to date 175 cases of confirmed COVID-19 cases and 2 deaths since the pandemic began but in the last 7 days, there have been no COVID cases reported.

According to the WHO, as of 31 March 2022, a total of 4,221 vaccine doses have been administered in the island.
