Reverend Dr. Ruthlyn Bradshaw Named Guest Speaker of 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Lecture

One of Montserrat’s most well-known religious leaders will deliver the annual St. Patrick’s Day Lecture.

Reverend Dr. Ruthlyn Bradshaw, who resides in the United Kingdom, is the 2022 guest of honour at the event which will  be held virtually on Tuesday March 15th at 6:30pm.

She will deliver on the topic “Pulled Up Like Weeds,” which focuses on the plight of Montserratians in the wake of the volcanic crisis that began in 1995.

Dr. Bradshaw played an instrumental role during the disaster as she offered support to Montserratians who migrated to the United Kingdom.

She says people shared their experiences navigating the new metropolis where civil and religious communities could view them as demanding and invasive.

Dr. Bradshaw points out that the relocated presented a vivid picture of ruthlessness as they felt a natural disaster had driven them from their homes in Montserrat.

She said the stories of how they found communities, accessed information they needed to thrive and how they connected to a place of worship give strong testimony to humanity, commitment and dedication in the most beautiful way.

Dr. Bradshaw is from Hope Village in Salem.

She migrated to the UK in 1997 and received many awards including the Montserrat Badge and certificate of Honour and the 2010 Centennial Award.

Currently she serves as Visiting Research Fellow at the Spurgeon’s College in the UK.
