Governor's Office Confirms Presence of British Cops
After several weeks of speculation the Governor’s Office has confirmed that a small group of serving and former UK police officers are on island.
The Governor’s office says the officers have been working with the Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) for a year or so on various policing reforms.
According to the Governor’s office some of the officers from the UK have also been assisting the Commissioner of Police with certain investigations.
It says the details of those investigations are an operational matter for the RMPS and the Governor’s Office is not involved in them.
The Governor’s office says all the UK Police officers work under the authority of the Commissioner of Police and within Montserrat’s legal framework.
