Department of Agriculture Sparks Efforts to Improve Quality and Quantity of Meat Production
The process has started to improve the quality and quantity of meat production on Montserrat.
The Department of Agriculture will be introducing artificial insemination in small ruminant animals on the island, such as goats and sheep.
Director of Agriculture, Melissa O’Garro, confirmed that this project was in the pipeline for quite some time.
However, she said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the project had to be put on hold.
She adds that training for farmers and technicians will need to be carried out and anticipates the outcome of better breeds of goats and pigs on Montserrat.
