Former Premier Calls for UK Government to Cover Loss in Montserrat’s Revenue Short Fall
A former Premier and Opposition member of parliament is taking the UK government to task over what he says is the “legal obligation” of Britain to ensure that the reasonable needs of Montserrat are met.
Honourable Donaldson Romeo contends that the downward spiral of the pound sterling is no fault of Montserrat and that the British Government is responsible to cover the cost of the loss of up to EC15-million dollars in revenue short fall in the local aid budget.
On Tuesday, the pound sterling to EC exchange rate was 2.9962 EC dollars.
