An Anticipated Significant Reduction in Utility Bills on the Horizon for Residential and Business Customers

Residential and Business customers will see a significant reduction in their utility bills following the completion of the 750 KW Solar PV Project.

That’s the word from Project Manager Owen Lewis.

In an interview with ZJB News, Wednesday, Mr. Lewis cleared up some misunderstanding as it relates to the supply benefits of the Project.

He says the generating source will supply electricity to every household on Montserrat on a day-to-day basis.

Mr. Lewis however, outlines that only a select few critical facilities will benefit during an emergency.

Lewis went on to break down the anticipated cost reduction.

The Government of Montserrat in it’s bid to transform the island to 100% renewable energy by 2030, launched the 1 Mega Watt solar photovoltaic and battery storage project.

The project was divided into 2 phases - stage one being the commissioning of the 250 KW Solar PV plant in Brades, which was completed in March 2019, and stage two, the 750 KW Solar project in Look Out, which is currently undergoing testing.
