Chief Veterinary Officer Calls for Regulation of Layer Market
Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Selvyn Maloney has called for the regulation of the layer market on Montserrat.
Dr Maloney says under the current system any one can join or leave the layer production/poultry business at any given time, which can be troublesome for the larger farmers.
He says if continued, this may have serious implications for the islands plans for self-sufficiency.
Dr Maloney goes on to highlight the other impacts this may have on the local market.
