Montserrat could potentially be the most connected in the Caribbean

The Leader of Government Business says Montserrat has the potential of being the most connected island in the region.

Premier the honourable Joseph Farrell believes this is an ambitious goal, but can be achieved with the cooperation of service providers on the island, and opportunities provided by the successful completion of the fiber optic project.

During his budget presentation last Thursday the Premier stated that the amount of internet capacity now available in Montserrat has increased from less than 5 Gigabytes per second to 100 Gigabytes per second of initial capacity; and an overall system capacity of 8 Terabytes per second.

The Government of Montserrat is directly connected to the new submarine fibre system, as are Digicel and FLOW both of whom are reporting that they can now provide more reliable and stable connections to their customers.
