The Montserrat Port Authority Not Given up on Recovering 60-foot Yacht on East Coast

The Montserrat Port Authority (MPA) is pushing ahead with plans to recover a 60-foot yacht which has now sunk on the east coast of the island.

MPA Manager Joseph O’Garro says the Port made 2 separate and unsuccessful attempts to remove the vessel, 'Good Luck', which ran aground in the Tar River area on Thursday May 13.

Mr O’Garro told ZJB News that access to the area proved a major challenge.

Mr O’Garro says preliminary discussions are already taking place with salvage companies within the region.

The Port Manager is also informing the public, that while being submerged, the vessel, at this time, provides no immediate risk to the environment or marine life.

Mr O’Garro is expressing thanks to all parties who were involved in the recovery effort.
