The Bank of Montserrat Finally Transfers RBC Costumers to its Banking Platform
The Bank of Montserrat has announced that it will finally convert all customers of the former Royal Bank of Canada on to the Bank of Montserrat’s core banking platform.
The Bank has received final approval from the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) on Friday, May 21st, to proceed with the conversion of the accounts.
The ECCB approval now clears the way for the Bank to begin the process of terminating all operations at the former RBC location and to consolidate all operations at the Bank’s main branch on the Brades main road.
From Saturday, May 29th, 2021 the Bank will begin the process of issuing new Bank of Montserrat ATM cards to all former RBC customers.
The new cards will be activated once the former RBC accounts are converted on to the Bank of Montserrat system.
Customers with chequing accounts at the former RBC will also be issued with a supply of Bank of Montserrat cheques from Saturday, May 29th.
While cheques issued by the former RBC customers prior to conversion will remain valid for a period not exceeding six (6) months, any former RBC cheques issued after
June 18th, will not be negotiable.
Additionally, customers from the former RBC should note that their account numbers will remain the same except for the addition of the number “8” at the beginning of
each account number.
Customers are strongly encouraged to update their payment records especially for recurring transactions such as incoming transfers for pension payments or receipt of rental income from tenants just to name a few, to avoid any delays in processing those transactions once they are received after conversion.
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) instructions should also be updated to reflect Bank of Montserrat’s routing code 020110242.
Immediately following conversion on June 18th, all customers from the former RBC branch are required to apply for access to Bank of Montserrat’s Online and Mobile Banking application to allow for the processing of transactions as the RBC Mobile Banking application will no longer be operational.
On June 18th, the ATM at the former RBC location will also be decommissioned until the ATM is relocated to an offsite location that will ensure all customers are within reasonable distance of an ATM.
Commencing June 21st, customers from both Bank of Montserrat Limited and the former RBC branch will be served exclusively from the current Bank of Montserrat Limited location as the former RBC location will be closed permanently.
The Bank says it looks forward to welcoming the former RBC customers to the Bank of Montserrat Limited family as they begin this new journey together as one family.
