The Government of Montserrat Continues to Express Concern About Corresponding Banking
Premier the Honourable Joseph Farrell says the government is concerned about the lack of correspondent banking service for the island.
Montserrat lost its only correspondent banking service following the sale of the Royal Bank of Canada to the Bank of Montserrat in April.
Opposition Member of Parliament David Osborne raised the matter at Tuesday’s sitting of the Legislative Assembly.
He asked the premier if it is the Government’s duty to resolve the issue of foreign money transfer in Montserrat.
Premier Farrell said the government considers this a high priority issue.
