Attorney General, the Honourable Sheree Jemotte-Rodney has advised new officers in the Royal Montserrat Police Service not to abuse their powers.

Mrs. Jemmotte-Rodney says new recruits have to approach situations with open minds and not to prejudge individuals.

She was speaking at the opening of the 10th RMPS training course earlier this week.

Director of Primary Healthcare Dr. Dorothea Hazel Blake is appealing to persons who are still undecided on whether to take the COVID-19 vaccine to make a decision.

Dr. Blake says she is pleased that persons are taking their the second doses of the AstraZeneca Vaccine….976 as of Tuesday May 11.

However, she says they would like to see more persons coming forward for their first dose.

Dr. Hazel Blake says those persons who are fully vaccinated stand a better chance of surviving the coronavirus.

Former Chief Minister David Brandt has called on the Government to review its policy of excluding persons from contracts if they are in arrears with their taxes.

Mr. Brandt says the policy, which has been in place for some time, is hurting contractors.

He says the government should address the matter by reaching out to those who are in default.

A Montserratian nurse working in the United Kingdom has been spotlighted by the National Health Service… NHS, for her role in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

Kezuri Bramble, a Junior Sister, in the Magnolia Unit, Enfield Community Services, is one of five nurses who were singled out for praise by the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS.

According to Ms. Bramble the COVID-19 pandemic was challenging for herself and her team members.

However, her leadership skills, coordinating skills and clinical experience gained whilst working as a discharge nurse allowed her to manage the staffing levels and smoothly run the ward.

The Montserrat Police Service is investigating a yacht that ran aground on the eastern coast on on Thursday.

The RMPS says the blue sailing vessel named 'Good Luck', about 60 feet in length ran aground in the Tar River Valley area on Thursday May 13, around 8:30 am.

Inspector Newell and team along with other stakeholders are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
