Montserratians Who Want to Travel From the UK to Home Must have a Leggally Permitted Reason to do so
It is now illegal for persons living or staying in the United Kingdom to travel abroad, while travel restrictions are in place, without having a legally permitted reason to do so.
According to the UK government website, it is unlawful to leave the UK unless there is a reasonable excuse, permitted by law.
This requirement also applies to Montserratians, or persons wishing to travel from England to Montserrat or other international destinations.
The requirement will remain in effect even after the national stay-at-home restrictions end on March 29th 2021.
The legally permitted reasons for international travel include: Work, Volunteering, Education, Medical, or compassionate grounds or Weddings, funerals and related events.
Individuals must complete a travel declaration form, which is not necessary for travel within the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
More information on this latest development, and to find the declaration form, can be found on by visiting www.gov.uk.
