The Ministry of Health Bolstered by Additional Cuban Health Care Professionals
The Ministry of Health here continues to benefit from the yeoman support of the Republic of Cuba.
The current number of Cuban medical professionals on island stands at 19, comprising 13 nurses and six doctors.
The Ministry of health confirmed with ZJB News that four medical practitioners left the island earlier this week for personal reasons.
It says that eleven medical practitioners arrived on island earlier this week.
These it says comprises six nurses and five doctors who come to Montserrat with varying specialties.
The Ministry of health is expressing sincere thanks to the government of Cuba for its assistance to Montserrat in different areas but more so in this COVID-19 environment.
Meantime, leader of the parliamentary Opposition, Honourable Paul Lewis is calling on the government to reveal the source of funding for the additional Cuban medical professionals.
He says that while the Cuban medics have been doing an awesome job, there are a number of questions surrounding the funding arrangements for additional support.
Mr. Lewis says the opposition has been asking for money for other frontline workers with little success.
He adds that they are now questioning the funding source since the 2021/2022 budget is yet to be approved by Britain.
