Hon Crenston Buffonge Welcomes Adopt A Wildlife Project in Montserrat.

Minister of Agriculture the Honourable Crenston Buffonge has welcomed the launch of a project which aims to protect wildlife and restore biodiversity on Montserrat.

The Montserrat National Trust in collaboration with the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & Environment launched the three year ‘Adopt-a-Home-for-Wildlife project on Friday.

The project was developed in 2016, as part of a wider ‘Saving Our Special Nature of Montserrat’ programme.

It builds on what was achieved during the pilot project, by encouraging community participation in protecting the islands’ unique wildlife and the human benefits which may result from it.

Speaking at the launch Minister Buffonge said his Ministry will continue to endorse efforts to preserve the island’s natural beauty while supporting many livelihoods which depend on the environment for their survival.
