A Call for New Forms of Policy to Support Teachers in a COVID-19 Environment…as Montserrat Joins the Global Observance of World Teachers’ Day 2021

Director of Education Dr Gregory Julius believes there’s a need for new forms of policy that will enable and support teachers in how the education system recovers post COVID-19.

Dr Julius made these comments in a radio address to mark World Teacher’s Day 2021, on Tuesday October 5th.

Dr Julius says this year’s theme, 'Teachers at the heart of Education Recovery, recognizes teachers for their tireless efforts even during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, and the importance of teachers remaining at the forefront of the recovery.

Meantime, The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports joined the rest of the region in celebrating 'World Teachers Day 2021' on Tuesday… October 5th.

This year, the Ministry of Education is paying homage to Educators, currently engaged, but who have served in excess of twenty years, and given yeoman service to the Government and People of Montserrat.

Thirty five Educators will be recognized throughout the month of October 2021.
