Montserrat’s Chief Statistician to Chair the 34th Meeting of the Regional Census Coordinating Committee (RCCC) This Week

Montserrat’s Chief Statistician Siobhan Tuitt will chair the 34th meeting of the Regional Census Coordinating Committee (RCCC) this week.

As incoming Chair Ms. Tuitt will direct proceedings at the online event scheduled for Wednesday October 27th.

The one-day meeting will be held against the background of member states preparing for the next round of Population and Housing Censuses.

During her year-long stewardship of the RCCC, Montserrat’s leading statistician will ensure the islands are in a state of readiness for the Censuses, through well-structured road maps.

The RCCC meeting is preceded by the Twenty-Eighth Meeting of the CARICOM Advisory Group on Statistics, which works to advance and monitor the implementation of decisions of the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians SCCS.

These SCCS meetings began on Monday and will end on Tuesday

Montserrat successfully hosted these meetings on island in2018.

Information on population and housing, and baseline data, are necessary to monitor and report on the local sustainable development plan, The UN sustainable development goals and the Samoa Pathway to evaluate the impact of those interventions which seek ultimately to eradicate poverty.

Montserrat’s population and Housing Census is scheduled to be held in 2022
