The Island’s British Governor Warns that the Developing Commission of Inquiry Situation in the BVI Should Serve as a Learning Experience for Montserrat
His Excellency Governor Andrew Pearce says the situation currently taking place in the British Virgin Islands should be a learning experience for Montserrat.
The British-appointed BVI governor Gus Jaspert, has established a commission of inquiry to investigate concerns over governance, including specific allegations that point to possible corruption and infiltration by serious organized criminal gangs.
Governor Pearce says although the matter does not directly affect Montserrat, residents here should be interested and supportive observers.
Governor Pearce added that local systems are in place to deal with the appropriation of public funds and to avoid such issues.
Governor Pearce says the individual alertness and courage found within the people of Montserrat is also a plus to help circumvent corruption.
