Government Looking for Housing Solutions as DFID Reviews Social Housing Policy
The Government of Montserrat is actively seeking housing solutions for persons in need, despite an ongoing review by the Department for International Development, DFID.
Speaking in Parliament this week, Minister the Honourable Crenston Buffonge, said a recent survey revealed that 58 households in Montserrat are living without indoor bathroom facilities and toilets.
He said that this was unacceptable and has to change.
According to Minister Buffonge, Dfid has put provision for capital housing on hold as they carry out reviews to the current social housing model and the design of social housing development.
The tendering process is still ongoing and will last several months.
Despite this, Mr. Buffonge announced that the Government continues to look for housing solutions.
