Government Announces Measures to Protect Public Servants
The government has announced measures to protect public servants from the possible spread of the coronavirus.
In a GIU press release the Cabinet stated that it is aware of the issues presented by the early closure of schools, and will be flexible to public officers who will be affected.
Staff who will be affected by the closure of schools from March 16 to April 3, 2020 should notify their Heads of Department.
Any staff residing or staying in a household with any person who travelled on British Airways flight (BA 2157) on March 10, 2020 are to remain at home.
Anyone exhibiting signs of the flu or cold, especially fever, coughing and shortness of breath, are notify their Head, in the usual manner.
Additionally, members of the public are encouraged to conduct business with the Public Service by telephone and email, in so far as possible, to minimize the health risks, at this time.
These measures were agreed to, as part of precautionary measures to protect members of the Service and the general public.
