New Port Project to Start in June 2021
Some good news for residents of Montserrat.
June 2021 is the date penciled in for the start of construction works on the Montserrat Port Project.
So says Minister with responsibility for works, Dr., the Honourable Samuel Joseph.
He was at the time speaking to Director of Communication, Viona Alexander-Smith on his weekly podcast “From the Minister’s Chair” on Thursday.
Dr. Joseph explains that the pre-qualifying stage has been completed and that the “Design and build project” is now shortlisted to five contractors who will be required to tender.
The Government of Montserrat has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)-United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCIF) towards the cost of the Montserrat Port Development Project.
It is the CDB’s intention to apply a portion of the proceeds to eligible payments under a contract for the construction of the Port Development Works.
Payment by the CDB will be made only at the request of the government of Montserrat and upon approval by the CDB, and will be subject, in all respects, to the terms and conditions of the Grant agreement
