'Camp Renaissance' For RMDF Officers
Members of The Royal Montserrat Defence Force were in training mode as the RMDF continued its annual camp into the weekend.
Camp Renaissance is the title assigned to the training camp, which opened on 26th October in Salem.
The hosting of the annual camp is a requirement by law and focused on enhancing the military skills of the members.
It provided an opportunity for members of the Force to combine and build skills, character and working with a team under pressure over an extended period of time.
This year three members of the Irish Guards; Staff Sergeant David McKay, Staff Sergeant Stedroy Perkins and Lance Sergeant Mozart Samuels were on island to assist in training for the annual camp.
This was after visits from Officers of the Irish Guards in January this year and the Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Col. Hon. Mark Lancaster, late last year.
During the camp, the members of the Force- along with security personnel from the Bank of Montserrat, Montserrat Port Authority and RMPS will be put through a one-week “Basic Security Guarding Course”.
The camp concludes on November 10th, coinciding with the annual Remembrance Day Service and Parade, and the course is being run in conjunction with the Montserrat Community College and the Royal Montserrat Police Service.
