Ministry of Health to Host US Dentists
The Dental Department within the Ministry of Health and Social Services will host a team of dentists from the United States from November 4th to 7th, 2019.
This team will provide screenings, dental extractions, fillings and other orthodontic consultations at no cost.
The service is available to all residents on island, however priority will be given to those persons who are not normally able to access services at the Government Dental Clinic.
Dental Surgeon within the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Dr. Coretta Fergus has expressed her support of the initiative. She said, “It has been in the works for some time and we are pleased that it has come to fruition. It gives residents the opportunity to access dental treatment at no cost to themselves and more importantly to receive treatment that will address a critical need. It is hoped that this programme can be expanded in the future.”
Dr. Fergus also advised that spaces are limited and therefore interested persons should make appointments as soon as possible. Appointments can be made by contacting the Dental Clinic on 491-7404.
This initiative was made possible by the Ministry of Health & Social Services and the Organization of International Development (OID).
The OID is a non-profit organization comprised of professionals in the fields of education, healthcare, engineering, computer science and technology, whose aim is to improve quality of life for people living in the underserved areas of the world. The OID will add Montserrat to its growing list of countries to which it has led international missions. Regional missions include Jamaica, St. Vincent, Grenada. Dominica and the Dominican Republic.
