Speaker Attends CPA's 43rd CAA Conference

Montserrat’s Speaker of the House Hon. Shirley Osborne is attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s 43rd Annual Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic (CAA) Region.

The Conference which runs from June 15th to the 23rd has attracted some 62 delegates from approximately 20 countries, mainly from the region, as well as other Commonwealth Countries.

The meeting opened on Monday in the Cayman Islands with opening remarks from the Cayman Islands Speaker, Premier Alden McLaughlin, and Leader of the Opposition, Ezzard Miller.

This was followed by the formal opening of the conference by His Excellency the Acting Governor, Franz Manderson.

Participants will be involved in plenary sessions reflecting different aspects of the theme, 'Building Small Developing States'.

The conference will also include the Annual General Meeting of the CAA, the 11th Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians and the 14th Annual Regional Youth Parliament.
