Leader of the Opposition Chides Government on Budget Statement

The Honourable Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition has chided Premier Donaldson Romeo and his government for what he describes as a budgetary statement with “routine and mundane” activities. 

Easton Taylor Farrell says these activities will not contribute significantly to economic development on island. 

In his contribution to the budget debate in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Taylor Farrell, says what Montserrat needs are activities that will stimulate the economy and provide meaningful employment for all.

The Honourable Minister of Communications, Works, Labour and the Environment is standing resolutely behind the 2018/2019 budgetary statement presented by the Honourable Premier and Minister of Finance and Economic Development Donaldson Romeo on Monday of this week. 

Speaking during the budget debate in the Legislative Assembly, Paul Lewis, says he has never heard of a perfect budget, and that there is always room for improvement. 

Minister Lewis says the implementation of several projects within the 2018/2019 fiscal package is part of a strategic move by government to increase economic growth, create jobs, while constructing the infrastructure.

He says this is critical to the foundation upon which conducive environment is built for tourism, businesses and industries to strive.
