The Government of Montserrat UK Office (MGUKO) is pleased to announce the official relocation of its London office to a new, modern space in Victoria. The move reflects MGUKO’s ongoing commitment to improving accessibility, strengthening services, and deepening engagement with the Montserratian community, business partners, and stakeholders across the UK and Europe. Government of Montserrat Representative and Head of the UK Office, Kei-Retta Farrell, said: “Our new location represents not just a change of address but a renewed step forward in our ambition to strengthen Montserrat’s voice in the UK. The office is committed to being a bridge between Montserrat and the wider world—supporting our diaspora, advancing trade and investment opportunities, and showcasing the island’s unique heritage and potential on the global stage.” The Montserrat Government UK Office provides consular services, diaspora engagement, cultural promotion, trade and investment facilitation, and diplomatic representation for Montserrat in the UK and Europe.

The Caribbean Overseas Territories are gearing up for the Joint Ministerial Council with the Government of the United Kingdom in London, England. The leaders are expected to advance shared priorities, including constitutional advancement and good governance, financial services and beneficial ownership, and border security and regional cooperation. Other possible agenda items are climate change and resilience, economic resilience and trade opportunities, and access to healthcare and education in the United Kingdom. The JMC is the main forum for elected leaders from the territories to meet with UK ministers to shape policy and strengthen their partnership.  It is the highest level of political dialogue between the leaders of the Overseas Territories and UK ministers, and involves elected leaders and representatives from all 14 Overseas Territories. These include six from the Caribbean – Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and Turks & Caicos. At last year’s meeting the Leaders welcomed five principles that were set out to guide the UK’s relationship with the elected Governments of the Overseas Territories. They were devolution; listening to the Overseas Territories; partnership with the OT’s based on mutual respect and inclusion; good governance; and defending the Overseas Territories’ security, autonomy and rights, including the right of self-determination. 

The 2025 ICT Week of activities has been announced. Organized by the Department of Information Technology and E-Government Services (DITES), the annual week of activities will run from 29 September to 10 October, 2025, under the theme “AI & Us: Innovation for Montserrat’s Future.” This year’s programme will highlight the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital tools in driving innovation, education, and development on the island. The week opens on 29 September with the Minister’s official address carried live on ZJB Radio Montserrat, followed by the launch of a Content Creation Workshop for Beginners at the ICT Lab. The workshop, running through 1 October, will feature facilitators and local social media content creators Adena Johnson and Kristen Taylor-Hilton, who will guide participants on areas such as CapCut editing, planning content, growth strategies, and monetisation. Throughout ICT Week, the public will have the chance to engage in a variety of activities, including daily radio quizzes for children and adults; Meta Compliance campaigns targeting public sector awareness; primary schools’ Tech Hunt, designed to spark digital curiosity among young learners; a panel discussion on AI & Us scheduled for Thursday, 9 October. Special emphasis will be placed on practical training and awareness-building, with workshops on content creation, cyber safety, and the use of digital tools in education and government services. ICT Week 2025 also continues the tradition of blending public engagement with professional development, ensuring that Montserrat remains connected, digitally thriving, and prepared for future technological opportunities.
