Every female student attending the Montserrat Secondary School has received six-months worth of supplies to manage their menstruation.
This donation was made by the Rotary Club of Montserrat through a US $5,000 dollar grant from the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO). Supporting items were also sponsored by Mannish Valecha of Victor’s Supermarket.
The girls received their packages on Friday following the Flow wid de Riddim Jam event. The donation and Jam marked the culmination of the Rotary Club’s month-long Period Passion Campaign.
Speaking to the students ahead of the Jam, acting minister for Education, Health, and Social Services, Honourable Dwayne Hixon highlighted the importance of having open conversations on women’s health, noting how the Jam supports this.
Honourable Hixon also addressed the girls, encouraging them to look out for one another and to not be ashamed of their menstruation.
