Government of Montserrat Reaffirms Commitment to Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development
The Minister for Buildings, Utilities, Infrastructure, Labour and Transportation (BUILT) has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable development and climate resilience as key pillars of Montserrat’s future.
Honourable Veronica Dorsette-Hector was speaking during the 2025/2026 Budget Debate last week, where she noted ongoing work at the Fogarty and Hope Springs water systems, and final stages of procurement for a new reservoir aimed at improving the island’s water security.
Regarding energy, the minister noted that Montserrat remains focused on reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels.
She reaffirmed the ministry’s role in delivering a “green, connected, and thriving” Montserrat, with affordable and clean energy, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 7.
