CARNIVAL PARADE LEAVES LASTING IMPRESSION
Wednesday’s New Year’s Day parade has left a lasting impression on many.
The colorful spectacle included four main troupes, - the Next Level Dancers, c’est la vie, Island Diva Mas and Montserrat Amateur Basketball Association, which boasted 150 strong contingent.
The Magretson Memorial Home (MMH) was also featured on the road, with a tshirt group.
The dancing, music and procession on the road to Little Bay was impressive with some onlookers describing it as the best in recent years, while others saw areas for improvement.
The New Year’s Day parade was followed by a closing ceremony in Carnival city featuring entertainment from a number of carnival monarchs, and dance groups.
A number of Parade Day prizes were also given at the ceremony.
Island Diva Mas was awarded for being the first carnival troupe to launch for the season. They also received the award for Spirit of Carnival.
Largest Troupe award went to c’est la vie with 146 members.
c’est la vie was also awarded for their stage presentation.
