Premier of Montserrat Affirms Developments in Montserrat's Access Sector

Montserrat’s access situation took centre stage during the resumption of the flagship radio programme “What’s on your mind” on Tuesday.

And, premier, the Honourable Reuben T. Meade who was a guest on the programme confirmed that the recent contract signing between government and Windward Islands Airways (WINAIR) has paved the way for the service to operate between Montserrat and Antigua between February and March this year.

Responding to a specific question about airlift in the absence of a ferry service, and passengers arriving late into Antigua, Montserrat’s leader of government business points to the reality that people will, from time to time, have to overnight and travel the following day.

He states clearly that provisions are not yet in place for night landing at the John A. Osborne airport.

Premier Meade further explained the private sector initiative as against government leasing a ferry.
