Former Speaker Raises Concerns on Disempowerment of Montserratians
A former speaker of the legislative Assembly has raised an issue where Montserratians who were registered on the voters list, but who were forced to migrate because of volcanic activity, have been disenfranchised or disempowered by anomalies in the voting process here.
Shirley Osborne says there needs to be measures put in place, not only to enable these people to vote, but to ensure their contribution to the economic and social development of Montserrat.
She was at the time speaking on her latest weekly ”Brainpower” programme on Radio Montserrat.
