United Alliance Raises Funds for islands Impacted by Hurricane Beryl

The United Alliance (UA) political party on Thursday launched its radio-thon initiative to raise funds and other assistance for the southern islands impacted by the recent passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Leader of the UA and former premier, Reuben T. Meade said the aim is to help those citizens in islands such as Barbados, Tobago, Grenada and its Grenadines, St Vincent and the Grenadines and St Lucia who have been ravaged by Beryl’s Category 5 winds.

Mr Meade outlined some of the areas in which people can help by pledging donations through the Montserrat Branch of the British Red Cross.

Meantime, Director of the Red Cross, Glenn Francis, has moved swiftly to defuse any rumours about a partnership between the Red Cross and the United Alliance.
