Ocean Advocate Calls for Civil Society to Help in Fight Against Climate Change

Ocean advocate Veta Wade wants Civil Society to play a key role in the fight against Climate Change.

Ms. Wade, an advisor on the blue economy and owner of the ocean conservation group Fish and Fins - sees the role of civil society champions for new laws, programmes, policies and strategies on climate change.

However, she points out that these organizations lack the financial resources to carryout their function effectively.

She also calls for a Montserrat strategy on climate change to help unlock funding that are available.

Ms. Wade recently participated in the United Nations Small Island Developing States SIDS4 conference in Antigua.

Against this background, she explains how adaptation to climate change and measures to mitigate its effects can offer opportunities to create new jobs.
