Montserrat economy to grow in 2024
The Montserrat economy is forecast to grow by more than 5% this year.
That’s according to Premier the Honourable Joseph Farrell, in his New Year message.
The minister of finance says during 2024, Montserrat is expected to see its economy expand, bolstered by continued investment in Housing, Sewage management, and repairs to the road networks.
He says these capital projects aim to not only improve living conditions but also lay the foundation for a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
Premier Farrell noted that the government will work steadfastly to deliver on its plans to advance Montserrat, and will therefore welcome 2024 with open arms, renewed vigour and renewed energy.
He said the Growth outlook, while positive, will be influenced by geopolitical factors.
Growth across the economies of the world is forecasted to remain modest, slightly slower than the past year asenergy prices are expected to increase, trade and businesses are projected to weaken, and wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are anticipated to continue.
