High Court Case Involving 4 Businessmen Adjourned Until May, 2024

The trial involving four businessmen has been adjourned to start on Tuesday May 7, 2024.

And this, after the defense raised an argument on the constitutionality of the Crown having an unlimited number of standbys during jury selection.

Both sides are to file written submission on the issue.

The applications will be heard next Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00pm.

Justice Dale Fitzpatrick is the presiding judge.

Attorneys Anu Mohindru KC, Reeshama Kanhai and Kadian McNeil are appearing for the prosecution, while Representing for the defense are Dane Hamilton KC, Dane Hamilton Jr. and Chivone Gerald.

John Ryan, Alford Dyett, Dion Weekes and Fitzroy Buffonge are also facing charges of failure to render a return and failure to declare interest by a director.

There is also one count of obtaining services by deception; one count of holding land on trust in favour of persons not belonging to Montserrat and one count of fraudulently making of a certificate.

The accused pleaded not guilty to all charges.
