Government of Montserrat Reports Progress on the Island’s Geothermal Project

Progress is being made on the geothermal project on Montserrat.

Dr the Honorable Samuel Joseph revealed the steps being taken to continue work on the project.

The geothermal project is a part of Montserrat’s efforts to transition to green energy.

Meanwhile, executive director at the Caribbean Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Dr Gary Jackson, believes that successful transition to green energy for the region will cost billions.

When speaking specifically about geothermal energy, Dr. Jackson suggests that the cost will stem from development work and exploratory drilling.

He also states that the Caribbean is behind on renewable energy use.

Dr. Jackson believes that regional integration is the answer to accelerating the transition to green energy.
