Government of Montserrat Moves Ahead With Volcano Interpretation Center

Plans are moving ahead for the construction of the Volcano Interpretation Centre Project.

On Monday, the Programme Management Office, PMO facilitated a stakeholder engagement event with the Montserrat Tourism Division, the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and the Montserrat National Trust.

The meeting, hosted at the MVO, allowed for the concept, designs and principles to be shared for feedback and input, and for early engagement on curation, experience and operations.

As a social, historical, and cultural centred project, the PMO says the team will be continuing and expanding stakeholder and public engagement as the project progresses.

It says the aim to make this a living landmark of the volcano’s geological and human impact, whilst creating a new, accessible, destination facility for residents and visitors alike.

The building is being designed by Article 25 - Humanitarian Architecture.

This Project is funded by the European Union’s EuropeanDevelopment Fund, and overseen by the Ministry of Finance Economic Management.
