Project to Look at why People are Leaving the Island
A Human Geography professor is showing an interest in curating a project here, concerning the reasons behind why residents, especially young people, are leaving the island and migrating elsewhere.
Tracey Skelton, professor of Human Geography at Otago University in New Zealand, has conducted several publications over twenty years, mostly regarding children and young people.
Professor Skelton says that young people play a big role in society and are often excluded.
She adds that it would be beneficial to work together and have the support of the Ministry of Education and it is important for young people’s voice to be heard.
