Ongoing RESEMBID Project to Retrofit Public Sector Buildings with Energy Efficient Equipment
In an effort to reduce energy consumption on Montserrat, plans have been made to retrofit equipment in public sector buildings for energy efficiency under the RESEMBID programme.
In an interview with ZJB News on Monday, program manager for sustainable energy in RESEMBID, Latoya Smith, explained that with the implementation of energy-efficient lighting, AC units, and other equipment, public sector energy spending would decrease.
Project manager of Montserrat’s two RESEMBID projects, Konrad Heimpold, elaborated on the purpose of this project, stating that it stemmed from an energy audit conducted in June.
He also outlines the buildings that will see changes.
The Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme (RESEMBID) consists of 47 projects across 12 Overseas countries and Territories (OCTs). Montserrat currently has two ongoing projects under RESEMBID, being the light bulb exchange project and the Energy Efficient equipment retrofitting.
