Ministry of Education's Literacy Week Begins
The Ministry of Education’s Literacy Week begins today Monday.
The week of events will take place under the theme “Books are Friends, Come, Let Us Read!”.
A main activity is the Book Parade on Thursday involving children from all the primary schools on the island.
The parade, starting at 9:40 from Piper’s Pond to the Basketball Complex.
The students will hear remarks by Director of Education Dr. Gregory Julius, and Motivational Talks from Dr. Sinclair Coward, and Miss Vanice Tuitt.
Today’s activity is a reading exercise where students from the Primary Schools will read to children in the nursery schools nearest their location.
Students from Look Out Primary School will also read to residents of the Look Out Warden Assisted Home. The Reading Across Montserrat Bus Tour” is carded for Tuesday, during which time community leaders will read to students in the schools.
To round off the week Education Officers will read to residents at the Senior Care Homes - Golden Years & Margetson Memorial.
