Investment Funds Bill to Bring Significant Benefits to Montserrat
The Government of Montserrat will make efforts this year to help small contractors meet their tax obligations. This was announced by Deputy Premier, Dr the Honourable Samuel Joseph.
He notes that many small contractors are behind on their taxes, and should get their tax status regularize.
Dr. Joseph says as a result of this situation they are unable to benefit from government contracts.
He says the government is therefore willing to work with the Inland Revenue Department and the ministry of Finance to devise this programme of assistance that may include payment plans.
Dr. Joseph also indicated that the contractors should not be excluded from government contracts because of their tax status.
An Investment Funds Bill, which was recently passed in the Legislative Assembly will potentially bring significant benefits to Montserrat.
